Failed Political Endorsements of the Iglesia ni Cristo


* It is widely believed that Iglesia Ni Cristo endorsement is based on high-rating surveys of the candidates

1986 • INC supported Marcos and defied the call of Democracy by the Filipino People during People Power Revolution

1992 • INC failed to help Danding Cojuangco to Presidency. Danding was only 3rd on the final tally of votes

1998 • Iglesia Ni Cristo supported Joseph Estrada (later to be convicted with corruption charges)
2001 • INC members were part of the violent EDSA III. GMA was forced to declare State of Rebellion. Some INC members died.

July 5, 2004 • ABS-CBN reporter Ramon Ilagan beat the INC-endorsed ex Cainta Mayor Nicanor Felix

May 10, 2007 • Michael Defensor, Ralph Recto, Vicente Sotto III was endorsed as Senators by INC, but lost in 2007 election

May 23, 2007 • Jamie Eloise Agbayani lost Pangasinan gubernatorial election despite the Iglesia Ni Cristo support

May 5, 2010 • Iglesia Ni Cristo endorsed Mar Roxas as Vice President (Mar Roxas eventually lost)

May 5, 2010 • Ruffy Biazon was endorsed as Senator by INC, but lost in 2010 election

May 15, 2010 • Quezon Gov. Rafael Nantes lost the election (INC vote was not enough)

July 22, 2010 • Iglesia Ni Cristo supported Manny Villar to Senate Presidency but failed.

March 20, 2011 • Iglesia Ni Cristo tried to support the impeachment of Ombudsman Gutierrez but failed.
